This job has taken us to some amazing places over the years, and Osea Island is a great example. A private island on the Blackwater Estuary, it’s idyllic views and miles of coastline were the perfect setting for these two lovely sailing enthusiasts to tie the knot. It was a real adventure having to wait for the tide to reveal the road to the island, before gingerly making our way across. Then we were quite literally trapped there until midnight (but that was ok, there was plenty going on to keep our snap happy trigger fingers busy!). The registrars missed out on the road-through-the-water adventure and arrived instead by boat, not their average day at the office either I’m sure.
Alice and Dave planned a wonderful event, which was so completely them. When we arrived at The Captains House they were busy waving flags and greeting guests, friends and family were hard at work putting up decorations and making sure everything was in place. To start proceedings they all headed down to the beach, where they had a naming ceremony for an extra special guest – a boat built by Alice’s father, given by their children to mark their 40th wedding anniversary, aptly named ‘Our Ruby’ and completed just in time for the wedding. The sun shone, and as afternoon tea was served guests chatted and let their competitive sides out with some lawn games. The ceremony took place late in the afternoon, with plenty of tears and laughter, followed by dinner, speeches outside at sunset, a ceilidh and sparklers. It really was a wonderful day, and the love between Alice and Dave was really a special thing to witness.
